Theme Day: Transparent

This is a Glasswing Butterfly, a butterfly with transparent wings which allow it to camouflage easily without blending with specific colors.  I photographed this pretty little insect some years ago when I visited the Butterfly Wonderland place in Scottsdale.  When pondering this theme, I vaguely remembered seeing a clear-winged butterfly so I searched through my archives to locate a photo.  Luckily, I had just one photo of this species.

Today is the first of the month and "Theme Day" for City Daily Photo bloggers.  To see other interpretations of the theme, click here.

Nice closeup. It's another first for me. This is the first time I have seen a butterfly with transparent wings.

Such a lovely bug! There were many glass wing butterflies in the bug zoo in Regent's Park- Utterly amazing- surreal butterfly! Your photo is sublime.

That's a creative way to go about it. Perfect, and technically a challenging shot.
