Open, Closed, Open and Closed Again

For approximately nine months I watched as this building was going up on the east side of the Biltmore Fashion Park Shopping Center.  I had already heard that it was going to be a fitness center but, I have to admit I was blown away by its size as the building progressed.

In mid-March it opened and then just one week later had to close as the pandemic shut-down happened.  When our Governor finally lifted the shut-down order it opened again only to have to close once more as our infection numbers soared out of control.  But, that second closing didn't come easy.  Lifetime Fitness decided to defy the Governor's closing order. Their defiance lasted only a day or two when they finally gave in and closed again.  As you can see, it's a gorgeous building and I'm sure a state-of-the-art facility.  Just another casualty of this horrible virus.

I have a new post on Sharon's Sojourns today.  I'm visiting the city that sits at the very tip of Lake Como.

The defiance in this instance was a wacky thing to do.

What a shame Sharon, so many businesses in trouble it's going to be hard to recover from ✨

Nice looking facility, in time, they will reopen. Gyms have never been the cleanest places,

It is probably a good thing that they closed but it is hard for people to see their businesses going down the drain. Stay safe out there, Sharon!

They're probably really hurting, having poured money into a new facility that they can't use.

That's bad timing for them. So many people are really hurting and it will take a long time to get back on track if it's possible. I read that Arizona is in real bad shape with the virus right now. Stay safe, Sharon!

There's a café here, too, that I just learned had to shut down again after its ceiling collapsed. Tough times for these businesses.

A lot of businesses will have to close, never to come back.

Beautiful building. I feel so sorry for business owners and their employees.

What a dreadful time to open a new business -- and gyms are real hot spots for infection...as is Arizona. These are such perilous times. Stay safe!

A very sad situation for business owners - but people's health and welfare is more important.
