The Leaves are Turning

I'm seeing more trees turning color and shedding their leaves.  We've reached that time when the leaves will fall and once gone, within days the new buds will appear.

The cycle is so different here in a warmer climate than it is in the north and northeast.  Growing up in Illinois, the trees were bare for at least three months before they showed signs of new growth.  Here they will barely have lost their leaves when new buds appear.

Really so fast?

The fast a subtle change of seasons in the south, many people don't notice, but there are four seasons there. Love it!

Fall & winter are short bursts for you. It is going to be really cold here this weekend sp no bud swill be forming here.

That's a really fast turnover. If someone is not paying attention, they can miss the change of seasons.

I had forgotten that. I would have thought the leaves would have long since gone away.

There's only one type of deciduous tree up here that holds onto its leaves over the winter before dropping them.

Similar here in S CA. Our fruitless pear tree in the front yard is busy losing leaves, but will be flowering in February.

The ever changing cycles of life are always wonderful to witness.

Funny. Even in Florida we had a few months of trees with bare branches -- mostly swamp maples.
