Ice in Phoenix

That metal tree with the Phoenix on top of it that I featured yesterday is sitting in the center of this year's ice skating rink in downtown Phoenix.  I went downtown last Friday to snap a few pictures.  The skating area is all frozen and ready to go but, there were no skaters taking advantage yet.  I guess I need to try a Saturday or Sunday if I want to catch people on the ice.

The skating rink is sponsored by Arizona Public Service, one of our main energy utility providers.  They produce the energy to keep it frozen throughout the month of December and give us desert dwellers a little slice of winter fun.

That sounds incredibly familiar Sharon.. we had a surprising 34C today, I'm expecting a skating rink or snow to pop up any day now 😀

I imagine it would be ideal to photograph in the evening.

That Is Pretty Inviting - Well Done - Also, I Really Appreciate The High Flying Phoenix Bird Photo

I hope it gets lots of skaters to enjoy it.

That looks like a great place to skate around. And you wouldn't have to be all bundled up for the cold!

Add the skaters and you'll have a lovely winter wonderland scene. I just love that tree, it is so creative and looks perfect there.

You had me there. I thought "Ice? In Phoenix?" I mean, I know it was chilly up here in the high country but still . . .

It is indeed startling to see an ice rink in Phoenix, esp since it is not surrounded by snow.
