A couple of years ago I did a post about a bar that was added to the mall area of Scottsdale Fashion Square. You can see it
here. The last time I was at the mall I noticed that the bar was gone and this seating arrangement was in it's place. It looks like it's well used be people checking their phones (of course) and people eating ice cream.
Right behind the seating area is the smallest merry-go-round that I've ever seen. It too was getting some use.

How strange that they took the bar out. It looked prosperous in your photo!
I love that rug. Would be perfect in my place.
Mobile phones are always at hand, everywhere!
No one sits around and chats anymore do they? I suppose the ice cream eaters couldn't eat the ice cream and hold their devices at the same time!
I've seen malls here reconfiguring with furniture like that.
That's a nice seating area. At our one little mall, the powers-that-be, dumb as doorknobs, decided to change the chairs in the seating areas and now they are way too big, and no one except a 300 lb man can sit in them comfortably! I think, sometimes, that decisions like this are made by some suit on the 95th floor of a Manhattan office building who doesn't have a clue what goes on in the real world!
In my mall you can see the same groups sitting in the same spot almost every day.
Very strange that the bar didn't survive - maybe people are too busy to relax when at the mall. Or they have driven there and don't want to drink.
I hope we get to see some nice pics from your California trip! ;-)
Just came home from a mall where there are sofas like this... Strange that only two people have their cell phones in their hands...
The first shot is great, the second is lovely!
Interesting seating arrangement. People must be quite friendly.
Oh, too bad about the bar because I think it would be nice to have a cold glass of wine while shopping without having to enter a bar to do so.
I've seen people holiday shopping in Berlin who just pull out a flask or even a bottle from their pockets for a little nip! Too bad the bar didn't make it. But I do like the seating. It looks cosy and inviting.
Nice "every day" scenes !
