Friday was the Phoenix Zoo and Saturday was another kind of zoo altogether. It was the annual food and wine event called "Devoured" and put on by the Phoenix Art Museum. Hundreds of food and wine booths all crammed into the courtyard of the museum. It gets so crowded that it can be a bit overwhelming.
Here is my friend Heather getting a taste of wine from a very big bottle.
And this guy is serving up some very tasty green chile and pork posole. Just look and that giant cauldron he's cooking it in!
I've posted more photos than normal today because this might be the last one of these events I attend. It gets way too hot in that courtyard under the sun, it's way too crowded, and the event has gotten way too expensive, $80.00 this year and that is with my museum discount. It's $90.00 for non-members.
I loved this lady's hat. She was very smart, it kept her eyes and shoulders shaded.
And of course, I saw several ladies in shoes that seemed totally inappropriate for four hours of standing and juggling plates and glasses. My feet ached when I got home and I wore flats.
I have a new post on Sharon's Sojourns today. I'm looking at some of the "hidden" gems of Venice.

That IS an expensive event, but it looks pretty popular. I am envious of the fact that you feel it is too hot for more outdoor activities! The shoes are quite good looking and all sacrifices must be made for fashion. Th photo of the hat would not post, but I'll be back to take a look later.
Looks to be a very popular, if rather expensive, event!
If I'm drinkin' wine I paid $90 bucks for, I could do it on stilts let alone these shoes. GRIN.
Bottoms up!
Those shoes look way too big for her. I would literally walk out of shoes that fit me like that.
I was just thinking the same thing as Kathy about those shoes.
I would say that eighty bucks is a bit expensive to wander through crowds in the hot sun too. I do like the hat!
Now that is a BIG bottle! :-)
These events often become feeding frenzies too which isn't fun! Those shoes don't fit well at all. ;-)
I think I might have enjoyed this... wearing Converse All Stars! Give me wine, baguette and cheese!
When we lived in Phoenix I was appalled at the prices of events such as these, not to mention concert tickets and restaurant prices. We poor people are being priced out of the "finer things" in life.
That would be too expensive- particularly since I don't like the taste of alcohol, so what would the point be?
Those shoes look murderous to wear.
Looks like a fun event. Love those stylish shoes.
A most interesting peek into this event. I particularly liked the sartorial images, with that big floppy hat and the very uncomfortable looking heels.
Well if it was a fundraiser Sharon they would have been well pleased with this turnout. Love the hat, might be an idea for next month's theme subject, self portrait shot :)
