This is a peek inside the bar at the Stockyards Restaurant. Much of what you see is original including the floor, the chandelier, and the hand carved bar. The word "saloon" seems to fit this room perfectly.
Even the bar stools are the original ones used in 1947 when the restaurant opened.

looks very vintage, those bar stools look like drums. I like the mood of this bar/restaurant!
It is probably not a coincidence that in these very dark, wood paneled surroundings and masculine furnishings, that all of the patrons at the bar appear to be male.
The chandelier looks more classical than western. I would expect to see a chandelier with little lamps and lampshades with cattle brands on them
This is a glorious saloon. This is where I would want to find myself on a visit to Phoenix.
i think the tv might be newer...
It somehow reminds me of the british pubs. Glad it's so well preserved.
The furnishings are very eclectic. The chandelier and the bar stools don't seem to go together. Looks like it must be a favorite "watering hole" though.
Now that looks like a good Happy Hour place.
The heavy carving in those arches is grand. I like sitting at the bar in places like this and sampling their pub meals.
That is some interesting history. This is the first part of the restaurant I saw. Go figure. LOL.
It definitely has a masculine vibe. I love that chandelier!
The beautiful ornate wood carving in the back of the bar reminds me of The Palace Saloon here, where we had lunch the day you came up with David. This room is indeed worthy of the name.
I could order a glass of beer here and so some sketching.
I really like this place but wonder about prices...I'd guess it's rather pricey, yes? And I'll bet it's a favorite watering hole for some of Phoenix's high mucky-mucks, right?
Would make a good movie setting.
i've never been in a 'saloon' - looks great!
I can almost smell the bourbon! So mahogany and warm and cozy. Love those barstools...
I'd try a lager at one of those stools.
