Cactus Flowers at home

Last year I feature a photo of this cactus in my backyard because I was surprised by the two beautiful flowers it produced. JM of Oeiras and Environs Daily Photo told me it was a type of echinopsis cactus.

Well this year it produced even more beautiful flowers. The flowers are just stunning when the open up but, sadly they only last for 24 hours.

Sharon, mine are also blooming! :-) Three flowers have allready died, but there are two more to come. I've posted two pics on the 'nature at home' blog.

cacti produce such beautiful flowers but they all live such a short time. I ran outside to capture a few photos of some blooming cactus that only last less than a day.

Flowers from small cacti do at times seem to be overly large in proportion to the size of the cactus that produces them.

Perhaps they are so big and beautiful because they have such a short time to display their beauty.
