Arizona Theme Day: Desert in Bloom

This month’s theme for Arizona bloggers is almost too easy. I say that because there is so much in bloom right now in Arizona. Trees are bursting with flowers and the cactus can’t contain themselves. Here is another cactus flower that I photographed at the Desert Botanical Garden. This one was on a prickly pear cactus. It’s brilliant, waxy flowers attract the bees and hummingbirds that will help to pollinate the plants.

It looks like this flower is in full bloom at night. A nice capture. THe flower is also unusually full for a cactus flower.

This is a gorgeous photo.

Thank you for visiting my site and for all your comments.

On a separate note, if you haven't been in Chicago since before the "Pink line" (the name was picked by vote of school children near that el line), you may be surprised at the changes - especially in the area of your "old neighborhood". ;)

Wow! I clicked to enlarge and this shot is luscious! You can see the pollen that has fallen on the petals and that color is so vibrant.
