Phoenix is the capital of the state of Arizona so I thought I'd start this blog with a picture of the state capitol building. It was dedicated in 1901, eleven years before Arizona attainded statehood (2/14/1912) in an effort to demonstrate that the Arizona territory was ready for statehood. The design is by James Riely Gordon and it is largely built of indigenous materials including it's copper dome.

This is a great photo of the Arizona Capital building for several reasons.
First, by starting from a low angle, you have managed, almost entirely, obscure the ugly nine-story state office building behind the Capital.
Second, your photo shows something that is very attractive and welcome in Arizona in the summer -- SHADE.
Congratulations on your new Daily Photo site. I look forward to your future postings.
Very Nice aunt Sharon!
