Bird's Eye View

I took an early morning walk at the Desert Botanical Garden yesterday morning.  I hadn't done that in quite a while.  I was hoping I'd see some cactus blooms but I only saw one on this trip.  However, the birds were busy finding great spots to take in the view.  This woodpecker was calling out to a friend somewhere near by.

This white-winged dove found a place where it could snatch a few insects off those saguaro blooms.  I've had my little Nikon Coolpix camera for over 10 years now and its telephoto lens still does a great job capturing things far away.

I am always surprised by how the birds perch on the cactus.

It makes me wonder if they get thorns in their feet.

They have quite a good view! We haven't had much blooming in our local desert either. They will either arrive very late (doubtful) or we will have to wait until next year.

Great shots! I don't know whether to cheer for the bees or the dove in that last photo. :)
