My Weekly Dose of Art

I visited the Shemer Art Center on Saturday.  I went to see a new exhibit of art work from high school students all over the valley.  I'll tell you more about that show next week.  First I want to show you a sculpture I found in the gardens surrounding the museum.  It caught my eye immediately because I recognized it as a sculpture I photographed many years ago.  It turns out it is by the same artist Tom Bollinger and it has the same name as the one I saw years ago however, I can tell this is a different piece.  You can see the original piece that I posted here.  The sculpture is called "Gaia" and Gaia is a Greek Goddess, the mother of all life.

I got a sort of self-portrait taking the photo of this sculpture.  You can see me in the reflection of the steel ball.  I'm standing out there ready to take the shot.

A great image. One of my first forays into posting online was contributing to the "Mirror Project", until it was dropped (quite literally, the server was dropped while being moved.)

It looks weirdly familiar to me, but maybe that's because, as Roentare said above, it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.

I can see why they called it that.
