Lace & Embroidery

This section of the exhibit I told about yesterday was all about how fabrics and design details influenced modern designers.

The mixture of lace, embroidery and beads were exquisite. I loved the combination of fabrics and patterns in the red one to the left.

I saw several that I would enjoy wearing!

I think I could take a few of those to wear too, Sharon! If I had a posh place to wear them. ;-)

I don't think they would look the same on me.

Quite ornate.

Beautiful! And yes, unlike some fashion shows, this one seems to include dresses that could actually be worn in public.

I'll try on that orange trouser outfit and meet you at the ball. (NOT)

Such a contrast to Gandhi and his spinning. The British had nearly destroyed parts of the Indian textile manufacturing activity. This exhibit illustrates what might have been lost, at least for a while, though there was also an industry of making textiles for normal clothing. I hope to see that museum some time as I love museums.

I really like these fashions, makes me wonder how clever people are designing and making them.

What gorgeous pieces! This would be a great exhibit to see in person. I'd love to see those fabrics at a close range.
