India: Fashion's Muse

The exhibit I went to see at the Phoenix Art Museum is called India: Fashion's Muse.  It explores western fashion's century-long love affair with the riches of India.  It shows how the opulent fabrics of India have influenced designers from street wear to couture.

The fashions and the fabrics displayed were beautiful.  To the right are dresses designed by Chanel (gold), Givenchy (blue) and Halston (stripes).

I'll show you a few more tomorrow with some incredible fabrics.

It is to cold for us to wear these in the west, but nice to see the fabrics so close.

Yes India has a patent on vibrant colors and very nice fitting clothes and fabrics.

Interesting! It's funny how so many art museums have started showing fashions. I think fashion exhibits tend to draw big crowds.

I've long been envious of Indians for the vibrant colors of their saris. We have lots of clothing choices but often seem to be limited in colors on offer.
