Unleashing the dogs
I found this mural by accident. I was turning around in a driveway when I spotted a mural at the back of a drive. So I decided to check it out. It's called Pit Bull Cerberus and it was painted by two artists known as Steiner USA and Korea. Those are a couple of names that are difficult to research but luckily I found a newspaper article about Phoenix murals that confirmed those names. The mural gives those dogs a bit of a scary look which does the breed a terrible disservice. I've met many a friendly and lovable pit bull.

Well Cerberus is supposed to look scary though I find a purple one comical
They do look like mad dogs but with almost a cartoon look - like something from Scooby Doo!
Man's best friend?
Yikes! This is not what I'd call a warm and welcoming mural. I wonder why they painted these dogs in such a fierce state. Pit bulls scare me and I'm a dog lover. So, I'll take your word for it that there are some friendly and lovable ones. :)
Cerberus is a 3 headed dog and as you can see he has 3 heads but only 4 legs. Scary:
from Wikipedia-
In Greek mythology, Cerberus (/ˈsɜːrbərəs/;[2] Greek: Κέρβερος Kerberos [ˈkerberos]), often called the "hound of Hades", is the monstrous multi-headed dog that guards the gates of the Underworld to prevent the dead from leaving. Cerberus was the offspring of the monsters Echidna and Typhon, and usually is described as having three heads, a serpent for a tail, and snakes protruding from parts of his body. Cerberus is primarily known for his capture by Heracles, one of Heracles' twelve labours.
Ah....great explanation Roseann! Now I'm just wondering if I was parked at the gates of hell when I stopped to take the photo. ;-)
I was quite familiar with the Cerberus story from Greek mythology.
That must protect the property!
Glad they're not chasing me. I know there are well behaved pit bulls but when I see one I'm still nervous walking by one.
Hmmm....interesting mural. Not very inviting for a business though.
It does seem a bit scary, but I like the colors!
Fearsome! I remember Cerberus from Dante's "Inferno."
The purple takes the edge off the scary factor 😀 that was quite a discovery Sharon!
I can't say I'm a dog person so I can't comment on the breed but, um, do they eat worms? It's a bit bizarre but well worth recording.
They look plenty frightening to me. Admittedly, I flinch a bit in the presence of pit bulls.
