Stormy Day

It was stormy day in Phoenix yesterday but, I wasn't deterred.  I went for a walk at the garden even though the skies were looking a bit threatening.  I'm glad I did.  I got to see all kinds of interesting things.

A few glorious looking cactus blooms were soaking up the rain water.

The sun came out for a while and lit up these desert roses.

This rather friendly lizard came running over to me to have his picture taken.

And, this quail was rather perturbed that the wind was blowing so hard.

See what I mean?  Lot's to see!

Does look very threatening, makes all those bright colours stand out even more though!

I'm glad the menacing skies didn't scare you. Terrific close encounters and gorgeous blooms. Wonderful post!

The lizard looks a bit mean. Good picture.

That lizard is so cool!

I think the clouds and rain would make a perfect day for a walk. Looks like the wind made for a bad feather day.

That's an afternoon. If that lizard hasn't a name I christen him the 'prickly cactus lizard'.

Super captures. I've found that cloudy or stormy days can be great days to photograph as the colors are richer and you don't have to deal with the contrast!

I love all these pics, Sharon! We had a huge amount of rain in about 20 minutes yesterday - it was nasty.

I'm sure that in the end, they were all happy that it did rain and what wonderful photo ops! I especially love the second photo, the flower is gorgeous!

A rainy day in the desert is always a special time. I'll bet the air felt cool.

I was sitting out (under a patio roof) during some light rain yesterday evening and wondering where all the birds went when it rained. Then I saw a couple of big doves fly up into a neighbor's tree and snuggle in among the leaves. But I heard one of the neighborhood quail with it's incessant call and saw it in its usual position, perched on the top of a shrub keeping watch for snakes, coyotes, javelinas or whatever.
