In Focus, Out of Focus

I took these pictures from the Rio Salado Park in South Phoenix looking west.  In the first I focused on the bridge in the distance.

In the second photo I focused on the flowers in the foreground.  I can't decide which I like better.

Then it's for us to choose...
I like the first one because I did not know about this bridge...
Though the second one brings the sun inside our home today...

I have heard that when dealing with depth of field issues, it is best to focus on the foreground. I agree most of the time, including your two photos today.

I vote for second photo.

I like them both but the second one seems more pleasing to the eye. Unless you are an avid bridge person and then of course the first one is the one to choose. I could go on, but lucky for you, I'll leave it like that.

Both are nice but I think I would go with the second one.

Hi Sharon, just catching up on posts I missed while away..love the colours in your 'sunshine and rain' image and the Greek festival, what fun. I like both of these images but if I had to pick probably the second!

On the first photo you photographed the bridge, in the second the flowers. Both are good!

Anyway, a photo of a bridge with flowers in the foreground doesn't make much sense for me, I prefer the second picture.

I'm going with everyone else and voting for the second one!

In the first the flowers compliment the bridge. In the second, the bridge is annoying and the picture would be better with just the flowers. IMHO. I like seeing both photos together. It's like a mini photo tutorial.

Oh boy, these are terrific. The bridge is so dynamic amidst the rather bland desert. I'll bet the water rushes down that arroyo when it rains hard!

Thanks for commenting on my mother's Burma Shave sign. She was rather proud of it!

These are fun, Sharon. Sometimes I do this and then can't decide which to show. Sometimes I do it by mistake . . .

They're both great!
