On the Rocks

I recently found this house in Paradise Valley sitting literally on the rocks on the side of Camelback Mountain.  In fact, that one huge rock appears to be supporting the large patio on this side of the house. An engineering marvel that probably cost way too much money to build.

It sorta looks like a 1980s motel!

What a wonderful place and what a wonderful view they must have. I wonder what's underneath the building besides rocks? Maybe a basement hewn out of the mountain?

They did a nice job of making it blend in with the surroundings.

I really like your depth of field in this photo. It gives a mystery to the house. The word "literally" popped into my head also when I saw your picture in regards to your post title. It looks rather other-worldly.
Happy Friday!!!

Not for me, Sharon. Apart from an architecture that doesn't appeal to me, I would never want to be living below all of those big -- and maybe loose -- boulders.

Great looking design. I would just hate know there are probably snakes under the house.

It looks awesome when we don't think about the cost and of the task of having created a way to get there.

An almost unbelievable sight Sharon, it never ceases to amaze me the challenge some people set themselves. Wonderful find.

I just LOVE this, it's brilliant! What a clever architecture.

In some of the oldest villages in my country big rocks were used in architecture as central pieces. I'll have to make a tour one of these days and take some photos, you will not believe it! :-)
