Fireworks from high up
Given my posts of the past two days, you might have thought that I missed out on the 4th of July Fireworks displays. Not so! I was invited by a good friend to see what could be seen from the 22nd floor of a downtown high-rise. The view to the north took in one display that was in the distance but still very clear. You can see it above in the top-right of the photo. The photo also captures the traffic on Central Avenue and a peek at that art installation I've featured before called "Her Secret is Patience". You can see it on the lower left of the above photo. If you don't remember it, click here for a photo I posted before.
About 20 minutes after the north end show started, another, much closer show to the east started up. Some of it was partially obscured by another building, but we still got to see all the high-flying explosions as they crested over the top of the building in the foreground. And, they were close enough for the noise to rattle the windows of our building. All in all, I enjoyed the view from above very much!

Lucky you to have such a great vantage point. Probably cooler too, wasn't it?
You undoubtedly had one of the best spots in town to see those fireworks..we certainly are fascinated by them!
What a view! and for you what a treat: the friend, the view, the shots and a little bit of cool air on top of everything...
What a tremendous view of your city. Lots of action!
Your second photo, I assume, is showing the fireworks following the Diamondbacks game. My son and his fiance saw those same fireworks inside from the stadium.
WOW! What a view!
very cool!
What fun!
I'm loving that first image Sharon, how cool that you can see the art installation also (I went back and had another look) it has a sort of surreal look from up there at night. How nice to be able to see the fireworks in comfort!
I love night shots and these are wonderful. You certainly had a wonderful vantage point. Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful view of the city at night too!
I want one of those apartments!
Lucky you!
You had the best seat in town!
