Maricopa County Courthouse

This terra cotta Art Deco building was built between 1928 and 1929 and sits in the heart of downtown Phoenix.

I love the old courthouse. The interior architectural touches are charming. The courtrooms are very traditional. A few movies have been filmed in the courtrooms there because the courtrooms look just what an old courtroom should look like.

By the way, I should have mentioned that the stone carving above one door says "Maricopa County Courthouse" and the stone carving above the other door says "City Hall." When built, the building was large enough (and the community was small enough) that it was both the County Courthouse and Phoenix City Hall.

They just don't make 'em like this anymore. Fine photo of a wonderful old building! A real treasure!

This was back when they knew how to build a building that was meant to last and make a statement.
Thanks for all your wonderful photos.
