Civic Duty

I received a jury duty summons three weeks ago and the day finally arrived earlier this week.  I was required to appear at the Maricopa County Superior Court building on Tuesday.

I did several posts about this building back when it was under construction in 2010.  You can see one of those posts from 2011 here.  I posted a photo again in 2012 when the building was dedicated.

This is one of the photos I used in the collage in the that 2011 post.  You can see the way the copper siding on this building has changed color.  It was so shiny when it was new and elements have changed that patina completely.

So, over 10 years later, I finally got to see the inside of this building.  I was there for about two and a half hours but in the end, they didn't need me for a jury trial after all.

It sounds like a one day, one trial system for jury service, I liked that system. Being there, helped the system of justice work. Sometimes seeing the jury pool, is more than enough to convince people to settle. One time when I was seated on a jury, the defense attorney immediately asked for a recess, five minutes later the judge came out to tell us, that "one look at you all, and he pled guilty." "Thank you!"

Glad you were able to get a look inside!

Everyone seems to try to get out of jury duty. It could be interesting if it didn't last long.I like the way the copper has changed, Sharon.

Nice looking building and it looks better as it ages.

that is a very modern building, way bigger than the one here.

There are a lot of people in Arizona who probably deserve to be put on trial (Kari Lake?) but I'm still glad you don't have to sit on a jury. :)
