.....for me and for the Mockingbird.
The Desert Botanical Garden has switched to summer hours so I took advantage of the change and took a 6:00 AM walk there. It was incredibly pleasant. There were only a very small amount of other early risers there. It was like having the place to myself.
I saw this mockingbird poking around in the yellow palo verde blooms that have fallen from the trees so I aimed to see if I could get a photo. I didn't know until I downloaded it that the bird had found some tasty treats under all that yellow. That really was a lucky catch.

What a peaceful and rewarding early morning visit—having the garden almost to yourself sounds wonderful, and that lucky shot of the mockingbird finding a snack among the palo verde blooms is a perfect bonus!
A mocking bird resides in a tree at the farmers market where I work during the summer. It is such a joy to hear the song that mimics other birds.
I can't quite tell what he found. Worms? A lizard?
I'm impressed that you were there so early, Sharon.
A good catch for you too.
Perfect photo.
The early photographer, get the bird with the early worm.
