Unexpected site

This is an ugly picture with those garbage cans in the way and that overgrown yard, but I wanted to show you this unexpected site, a pay phone by the side of the street.  That is something you don't see very often these days.  I love that sign up top that say calls 25 cents.

Pay phones are becoming rare. I can remember when calls and coffee were 10 cents.

Not so many here in the UK either- a good find.

A cool find!

The phone is an usual site. The garbage cans and vegetation needing attention, not as unusual.

I'm not sure what 25cents is in Aussie money but that doesn't seem too much to me Sharon. I was just looking at some public telephones the other day, there are still quite a lot here, I never see anyone using them though, I think everyone as a mobile theses days :)

Was it functional? My first impulse would be to use it to find out.

I can not even think...do we have any pay phones left in my community??? I will see you real soon. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

We have very few pay phones, also. Only one, I think, in the downtown area.

Years ago, I had a friend and neighbor who, when I called him, would answer the phone like this: "Go ahead, it's your nickel!"

That was a while back! (Actually, I think phone calls were a dime, then!)

Nice find, Sharon.
Is it still working?

I saw one this morning too and thought -"what a blast from the past". And I hate those garbage bins which we have too. They are a visual blight!

I don't think many people use public pay phones anymore, everyone seems to have a cellphone!

Did you try to make a call? I'm tempted to put one outside my home. I bet you can make a bit extra cash with it. Oh, the novelty. Where is it?

I saw a 'No Parking during Snow Emergency' sign in Scottsdale once.

Really! I can't remember the last one I saw.
