Pictures from Phoenix and sometimes from the surrounding cities that make up the "Valley of the Sun"
Could it be a Verdin? He is keeping the plant balanced :-)
Maybe it is a type of finch.
It's a poser.
Great composition, Sharon. Too bad that bird doesn't know how lovely it is!
I believe it's a house finch. I look at some pretty great birding blogs - that's the only way I would have learned that!
What a wonderful shot, Sharon! Love the bird, the composition and that blurred background. Great job.
The lighting is lovely in this shot.Kathy is right, that is a house finch. We have some nesting in the backyard.
I don't know what a kind of bird this is, but the photo is beautiful and very good composed.
Absolutely wonderful photograph! How'd you get it to turn toward you?
They are both keeping an eye on you!
An Excellent use of DOF, looks like he just raided the jam pot with his red head.Shaun Valleys ShutterBug
Great shot.Such a pretty color.
I had to drop by after reading your comment on Steve's blog and say hello. Wonderful photos!
Looks like a house finch. Great shot. I see it's friend is trying to hide.
I have one in the tree near my house that sings every morning around 6am. Even on the weekend.
What a cute pair Sharon, the 'red head' made me think of Aimee haha!
Yes, I agree it looks to be a house finch. I love how they sing.
The other bird in the photo blends in with the plant and is almost invisible next to that redhead. Great capture, Sharon!
