College Architecture
I mentioned that there was some interesting architecture at the Chandler/Gilbert Community College along with the sculptures I found. Many of the buildings were constructed of concrete block but with artistic touches that made them stand out. The building above was all glass with a steel framework around it.
And this building had some added color and that second story walkway with the silver arches over it. It sort of looked like a fancy, stretched-out slinky toy.

Mesquite Wash
Here is another sculpture I found on the campus of Chandler/Gilbert Community College. This one is called "Mesquite Wash" by Kevin Berry.
I like it!

Three Columns of Wisdom
Last Saturday, I drove out to Chandler to visit the campus of the Chandler/Gilbert Community College. I was headed there to see an art exhibit of works by one of my art club friends. However, I was a day late. The show had been taken down already. So, instead I wandered the campus for a while and found some interesting art works and architecture there. This piece is called Three Columns of Wisdom by Ron Gasowski in collaboration with the children of Chandler Unified School District 80.
The three totem poles are made of pottery that each looks like it is made up of pottery shards. It's very creative and the colors are so calming.

On the South Side of the Valley
From the far north of the valley where the city of Cave Creek is located I've now traveled to the far south of the valley to Chandler Arizona a fast growing community where I worked many years ago. When I was working out there I would sometimes have lunch at Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant. This last spring I took a drive out there to have lunch there once more and I snapped these photos.
The word "Abuelo" refers to someone's grandfather and it looks like someone has put a statue of "Abuelo" in front of the restaurant. I don't think that was there when I used to eat lunch here.
I have a new post on Sharon's Sojourns today. I'm featuring my favorite place to stay when I visit Tucson.

The Estate
On Sunday, I featured The Castle, the wedding/event venue I found in Chandler last week. Today I have Bella Rose Estate another wedding/event venue that just happened to be right next door to The Castle.
This venue has more of a Spanish flair with lots of Spanish tiles and arches. The grounds were undergoing some rather serious landscaping efforts while I was there so I wasn't able to take a lot of photos of the grounds.
I did enjoy seeing a lot of beautiful pottery sitting about the place.
Given the proximity to The Castle, I'm venturing a guess that they two facilities might be owned by the same company.

The Castle
I took an exploratory drive out to Chandler Arizona last Friday. I thought I'd drive by the building I was working in when I first started this blog back in 2008. However, I found a lot of new things to admire and of course to photograph. One of them was this place called The Castle. It's a place for rent for weddings, conferences and parties.
Of course, it's built to look like a castle. A small castle, but a castle nonetheless.
It came complete with a rusty cannon just in case it might be needed.
Big, sturdy wooden doors look like they are fit for a castle.
And, a large circular fountain sits in front surrounded by stone frogs spouting streams of water.
Do you suppose if you kiss one of those frogs they turn into a prince?
I have more discoveries to show you over the next few weeks.
I have a new post on Sharon's Sojourns today. I'm visiting a hot tourist spot in my own way.
