Making An Effort

It is not a good time year for flowers to be blooming in Phoenix but this canna lily in front of my complex is making the effort.  You can see that it is getting a little "crispy" around the edges.

It was 115 degrees (46C) last Sunday and the high has been hovering around 110 (43C) all week long.

It's the time of year we tend to stay inside.

The daily summer temps are hard to fathom, having not been there in the summer.

The heat must be amazing when you walk outside, Sharon. That is a tough flower.

48 degrees!!! When it's 35 I am already worried and don't leave the house.

Canna lilies are used to heat, but 115º of dry heat is extreme even for them!

I fully understand how hot that is, as our summer temperatures are as intense. It baffles me every summer how some plants still flower. And just like this canna lily, they look a bit frazzled.
