Empress Leilia

When I was at the Desert Botanical Garden last Sunday I spotted a butterfly I don't recall seeing before.  It landed on a rock far below me.  I zoomed in with the telephoto to catch a photo of it and this was the best one I got sort of leaning over a rail and looking straight down.  As near as I can tell, it's called an Empress Leilia butterfly.  I searched for 'brown butterflies' and did some looking through images to find it.

According to the internet source, they are common to this area so I've probably seen them and just didn't notice before.

Much easier to photograph was this queen butterfly perched on a bloom.  These are plentiful in the desert southwest.  I see them all the time at the garden.
