Hollywood!
Yesterday I went to the Phoenix Art Museum's new exhibit called Hollywood Costume. The exhibit has come direct from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and it's all about the art of costume making and the impact it has on film and the actor's who wear the costumes. It was an amazing exhibit with real costumes, video, sound and descriptions. Everywhere in the exhibit there was something to feast your eyes on. No photos were allowed in the exhibit but I did manage to get this shot of the entrance with a costume worn by Nicole Kidman in "Moulin Rouge" hanging above the ticket takers box.
In additions to this fabulous show, there were quite a few other things to see and enjoy. Over the next few days, I'll fill you in on the rest of things I saw.

I am always a bit dismayed when photos are not allowed. Too bad, but good that you had a great time!
I am always very dismayed when photos are not allowed. Looks very cool, I think I'd have enjoyed it immensely (and I need to go to London more often, the V&A is no near where I used to live!!!)
Make that 'so near'...
The issue of whether to allow photos must be a difficult one for museums.
People like to take photos everywhere these days. I like to take photos of memorable items in museums.
But crowds of people taking photos can detract from the experience of other visitors. It can also reduce the number of people who can see certain exhibits because people take more time when they are taking photos.
The Mona Lisa experience is an extreme example.
And,then, there are the clods who keep using flash when that can damage art.
I think that the right answer depends upon crowd flow and the amount of space for the exhibit.
Photos are not permitted because of copyright issues. I caught the show at the V&A. fabulous isn't it
I bet that was interesting.
Super interesting I bet Sharon. We have an exhibition here at the moment of some of the dresses worn by the Sex and the City ladies, gosh they must all have been so slim :)
The entrance is promising...
Sounds like a wonderful exhibit, Sharon!
You take a small camera, keep it low and to the side and make sure when it clicks it doesn't make any noise.
Well, that's what I was told, anyway!
Sounds like a fun time.
I'd have enjoyed it in there.
That's where a phone comes in quite handy, with photo bans.
Sounds like a nice exhibit. I tried shooting a photo at the museum once and posted it without mentioning the Phx Art Museum. The museum police still found me and made me pull the post.
It looks like quite a fascinating show!
