Another weekend event that I visited was the Heard Museum’s World Championship Hoop Dance Contest. The dancers competing in this intertribal contest are from the United States and Canada and perform with amazing skill and talent a colorful dance full of precision and grace.
The photo I’ve featured here is of Brian Hammill of New River Arizona who won the championship title in the adult division.
The small photo shows the circle of singers and drummers who accompanied the various performers.

I love this! You really captured this mid-moment, Sharon. It's wonderful. I'd love to have seen this competition.
You've just made my day. I love it!
It must have been absolutely fantastic to watch their performances! I love your photo!

Sharon, we would love to attend with you next time! Great shot.
I would love to see a performance like this! How wonderful you were able to attend and share with us!
Sharon, you were very kind not to mention the rude guy who was elbowing you for position in taking photos of the drummers. Oh, that was me. It was wonderful to bump into you -- literally -- at the hoop dancing championships, and to have dinner with you afterwards.
I bet it was worth seeing! I love native american outfits, they look fantastic and so colourful!
These dancers are amazing. Their energy is really remarkable.
It looks as if it was a great performance. I love the costume he's wearing..well captured.
Dave, I enjoyed "bumping" in to you and Julie very much and thoroughly enjoyed dinner! We'll have to run into each other at one of the next big events!
This is one of my favorite events at the Heard. I hope you had a great time.
The hoop dancers are marvelous.
