When I was at the Desert Botanical Garden last Sunday, I encountered lots and lots of quail scurrying around. In fact, the one to the left walked right up to me. When I snapped that quick photo, she was literally six inches from my foot.
This chubby fellow found a spot of sunshine to warm up those feathers. They were all very friendly, following me along the trail and periodically running toward me. I had a great time visiting with them.

What a gorgeous encounter you had.
What a pretty photo's of all the different birds!
They have such pretty colors, and the feather on top.
I haven't seen a quail in decades.
Good pics!
They are so cute. I have never seen one, Sharon.
Those tufts on their heads are so unique. Such pretty birds!
Sweet bird 🐦 Beautiful encounter ❤️
Great captures of these beautiful birds.
I love quail! So much personality. It's interesting how they group together, and sometimes post a "sentry" to keep lookout and warn the other birds, with their "chi-caa-go" calls to one another.
It's interesting that they are unafraid and run towards you. I wonder if people feed them? Is that allowed?
You know, I wondered the same thing. No, we are not supposed to feed the wildlife but I'm sure some people do.
Normally here quail run away the minute they see people.
