On Tuesday, my friend Dave and I went to the Tate Britain, one of my favorite museums anywhere.
We saw room after room of wonderful art and I love the way they arranged the rooms with a theme in mind.
Here's a puzzle for you. One of the docents told us to be sure to look at the clock in one of the galleries. I wondered what could be worth mentioning about a clock. It took me a minute. What do you think, can you tell what time it was?
The Tate Britain has the largest collection of JMW Turner paintings anywhere else in the world. A stroll through the Turner galleries is always a treat.
On the taxi ride back to the hotel, I managed to snap a not too bad photo of St. Pauls Cathedral right out the taxi window.

I hope you are going to the Tate Modern as well. What an adventure you are having.
I enjoyed the Tate when I went there too. It was unplanned and a great surprise.
We stayed near the Shard in 2020 (March of 2020) and it was unclear if the top was going to open to the public that day, so we missed it. I like the clock, I was thinking of something like that recently.
Beautiful photos. ❤️ That is a strange clock.
I have never been to Oblix -- didn't even know that was the name of the restaurant in the Shard -- but I did go up to the viewing platform once. I'm sure that clock confuses a lot of people. It seems a rather cruel trick, since I'm sure many people misread it! I'm guessing it's a quarter to six in the picture?
A quarter to five? : )
It is a decimal clock... hmmm let us know please. : )
That is a lovely place as well. I could spend hours there.
Wow! I came over here expecting to see something about the dust storm in Phoenix. Instead, I found your wonderful trip to London! (And Oxford!) I read backward through August 14 to see you wandering around these great cities, visiting the museums and other fine sights. Terrific! I travel a lot these days, but most of the time I go with a tour company, to reduce the job of planning a trip (and handling the transportation). I admire your approach of just walking out the hotel door and going!
Art, Turner’s masterpieces, and those breathtaking views
