St. Mary's Basilica in downtown Phoenix has had a long life serving parishioners over the years. It was founded in 1881 and in 1985 it was visited by Pope John Paul II who proclaimed it a minor basilica. It's historical significance was recognized in 1978 when it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is also one of the Phoenix Points of Pride. My 10 year old post is

ReplyDeleteIt's a beauty and what a grew blue sky as a background.
ReplyDeleteLink isn't working for me either, Sharon!

ReplyDeleteThat is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteThis is a much better shot of it.
ReplyDeleteSaw the old pic and love the new one best! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe church is a beauty and so is this photo. I like it much better than the previous one.
ReplyDeleteWow, beautiful architecture and I love the symmetry! Interesting too the contrast between old and new, with the modern highrise down the street.
ReplyDeleteThe entrance is raised to give it grandeur, but that must make it hard on the infirm to get up there. (Must be an ADA compliant ramp out of sight.)
