Purple Blooms
Purple and lavender are two of my favorite colors so when I see those colors displayed in flowers, I tend to be drawn right to them. That's what happened last Sunday when I took that early morning walk at the Desert Botanical Garden. The first ones that caught my eye were the bee balm plants in the wildflower section of the garden. There were fields of the shaggy beauties all along the trails.
Another one that I love seeing is the bright blooms on the Guayacan plant. This plant is labeled as under special protection. It's native to northern Mexico and into Central America.
Over in the herb garden area I found rows of Lynn's Legacy Sage with lovely lavender blooms all over them. I do love cooking with sage but I don't think I've ever used this variety.
A little further down the trail, I saw the artichokes had gone to bloom. One part of me hates to see them blooming because they aren't edible after that but, the other part of me loves the lovely lavender thistle-like bloom on top.
Gosh what a feast of lovely lavender colour Sharon, one of my favs too. Your sage plant, third shot down, looks remarkably like our petunias..
ReplyDeletePurple beauties, every one! I loved seeing these blooms, Sharon! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a feast for the eyes, Sharon !
ReplyDeleteWow, that bee balm is really looking good! We planted some bee balm in our garden and it never really took off. I think our soil is too wet or clayey or something. I love the artichoke bloom!
ReplyDeleteThey are also in my favorite color catalog! Gorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteA lovely collection of purple blooms. Purple must be the floral colour of the season since I have seen so many on my morning neighbourhood walks with Wild Wendy. A while back I visited the conservatory in our Como Park and noted that the colour theme for their spring flower display in the sunken garden is purple. You would enjoy it!! I cannot pick a favourite in your collection today; they are all wonderful to see.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous colour, Sharon.
ReplyDeleteI love them all, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help thinking "burple plumes". I guess there's a Spooner in all of us. Beautiful photos though, Sharon. (Or beautiful shotos though, Pharon.)
ReplyDeleteThe artichoke is the only one I would have been able to name. Purple is a great color, but it needs to be used sparingly. Except, maybe, for lavender fields.
