I think I might have pictured this giant panda sculpture once before in post a few years ago. It's called "Maternal Love" and it was a gift to the city of Phoenix from the city of Chengdu in China. Chengdu is a Phoenix "Sister City".
She really is a "giant" panda as you can see from this photo taken a little further away. It's located in the Margaret Hance Park in the Mid-Town area of Phoenix just north of our downtown. It's not in a location that can be seen from a the well traveled street near by so I think it gets missed by most people. But, it's well worth a little admiration.
Nice gesture of your sister city.
ReplyDeleteI'm admiring Sharon :) The panda is a lovely gift from your sister city, good for reflection shots :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous enhancement to the park. Yes you did post it before. You can see it here... http://phxdp.blogspot.ca/2013/12/sister-city-gift.html
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely piece of art and deserves our admiration.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely impressive! I like it!
ReplyDeleteIt is quite an impressive sculpture, Sharon.
ReplyDeleteImpressive indeed and a very generous gift from your sister city.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. It is a fine expression of maternal love. There's just something about Pandas; and regular bears, too.
ReplyDeleteWe were out and about today, driving home through the Ocala National Forest, when in the middle of the road ahead was a mama black bear and two little cubs. They were trying to cross a busy highway and just made it safely...I slowed down, hoping to get a photo, but she shoved the cubs in the woods and then turned to see if I posed any kind of threat. I've got to say that was one of the cutest sights I've ever seen.
You keep on revealing new things to me about the city I used to call home (twice). I will definitely try to check this out.
ReplyDeleteA lovely gift, Sharon !
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely. Kind of Chengdu to give this to Phoenix.
