I find the best sculptures in old town Scottsdale along Main Street where there is one gallery after another. In fact, this particular spot seems to be the best place to see a new sculpture every few weeks. This time it was this great bronze of Mark Twain.
You might remember two other sculptures that I've featured here that were located in this same spot.
This one I posted back in 2013 and
this one I posted in May of this year.
I did not see a sign for the artist on this one but, whoever it is has quite a talent.
To me it looks like Samuel Langhorne Clemens. 【ツ】 Whether it was Sam or Mark a lot of great things came out of his mind.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it's the same sculptor who did the Monet? Looks like a similar style. That sculpture from 2013 is FREAKY!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is very well done. It captures, I think, the essence of the man; his humor, his irreverence, his laid-back style. I'd sit next to Mr. Twain anytime!
ReplyDeleteYes, would be nice to sit next to him :)
ReplyDeleteIt really brings out his personality. He looks like he's about to launch into telling a tall tale.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know exactly where these are located. I have walked the gallery areas of Old Town Scottsdale but have missed these.
ReplyDeleteWell done and perfectly placed!
ReplyDeleteFab Sharon. What a great man.
ReplyDeleteA great man and so much humour.
ReplyDeleteOh, I really like this one, Sharon!
ReplyDeleteLove it! This reminds me of a trip we made to Hannibal, Missouri, home to our friend here. Terrific bronze capture.
ReplyDeleteThese benches are always fun to get pictures with! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI remember the others Sharon.. I loved 'Conversation with myself' maybe I related :) So much talent here. Mark Twain must surely be considered on of your best ever writers.
ReplyDeleteThat is a fine Twain sculpture. You need to visit Hartford some time and see the Mark Twain House.
ReplyDeleteI love looking at all three sculptures. It must not be very easy to move them.
