Dragonflies are a most interesting insect. If you examine their bodies closely, they look more mechanical than organic. I found this one sitting atop a century plant. They eat small insects like mosquitos and flies so, they like to sit in high places to watch for good sources of food.
They are interesting insects. I find them hard to photograph, they always try to stay away from me!
ReplyDeleteExcellent photography Sharon.
ReplyDeleteAmazing shot, set perfectly against that beautiful blue sky!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a great friend of insects, but this guy is very photogenic!
ReplyDeleteNice shot Sharon! It really shows off how delicate their wings are.
ReplyDeleteThey can still make me nervous flying a bout. Duck!
ReplyDeleteAnd they come in several colors! Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty amazing how they fly. Love this macro.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture. I enjoy watching them fly, and since they gorge themselves on mosquitoes, they're quite welcome to me!
ReplyDeleteI had one land on my shoulder this week as I was watching a turtle in a pond! I tried to get my camera up to catch a pic but he flew away to my back!
ReplyDeleteAnything that eats mosquitoes and flies is a friend of mine.
ReplyDeleteWonderful composition.
ReplyDeleteAnd this one was looking for a good photograph and found one...
ReplyDeleteThey're a bit like the falcons/eagles of the insect world :) Wonderful capture Sharon.
ReplyDeleteI am always fascinated by their gossamer wings. This one is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteThey DO look like little machines. Some roaches and beetles are the same -- like little tanks!
ReplyDeleteWonderful capture, Sharon!
