Vinyl

While wandering around in an antique store, I came across this room full of record albums.  Many of these covers are very familiar.  I'm sure I used to have them in my collection at one time.  Which leads to the question...how can these be antiques?  Okay, I guess "antique" is better than "obsolete".

  1. A very familiar sight... for people of a certain age!

  3. Lol Sharon! I'd say 'vintage' rather than antique! Great stuff there (very photogenic too) and record albums seem to be making a surprising comeback! I still have my old ones somewhere at my parent's!

  4. I still have some old ones but doubt that they are any good anymore since they've been sorted haphazardly in our basement. Colorful.

  5. I've heard vinyl is coming back. Sort of. Back in the day, I wrote a record review column for a Texas paper and received all the latest albums. I couldn't find room for them. I think I still may have a few but I don't know where. :)

I love antique stores 'cause I find all the stuff from my childhood that I thought had disappeared forever!

  8. There are a couple of music stores up here that are stocking vinyl. I grew up with compact discs.

  9. My old ones are at my parents' too. I'm not sure if there is a turntable there though.

  10. I see a few that would have come home with me.

  11. I have heard that there are quite a few people who would rather have these old records than the new media. Gosh, I took mine to Goodwill.

  12. Synchronicity -- I loved that album! Yes, records have quite a lot of retro appeal in some corners, I think mainly among hipsters who haven't yet experienced the frustration of their favorite albums developing skips or scratches. Ha! I'll take digital any day. I took all my records to Goodwill years ago and for the most part I don't miss them -- though I do miss the larger-format cover art.

  14. Sharon, at my age, this is a question that I don't want to dwell on . . .

  15. Judging from some of the covers, this could be a vintage photo taken in the 80s. Just great!
