I've taken many photos of this plant called Desert Rose but, I don't believe I've ever posted one before. The Desert Botanical Garden as several of these plants and they are all growing in large pots that are scattered throughout the garden.
The unusual thing about the plant is their root system. As you can see, it's all twisty and tied in knots.
It appears to bloom all year long with these pretty red flowers. I wonder if I could grow one in my yard.
Thanks for sharing, love it!
ReplyDeleteNice scarlet red. Those roots look like they are hugging each other.
ReplyDeleteAndy is right a nice demonstration of pretty big hugs!
ReplyDeleteLet us know if you are able to grow them at home.
It is absolutely delightful. I didn't think of hugs but of a sculpture!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely magnificent colors!
ReplyDeleteFunky roots. Re growing one in your yard - give it a try. Reminds me a bit of an hibiscus. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteSharon, unless you have landscaping that requires a lot of water I'm sure they'd thrive. Maybe get a big pot or two!
ReplyDeleteI will look for these next time we are at the DBG.
ReplyDeletePeculiar roots, but a beautiful bloom!
ReplyDeleteThe blossom sort of resembles a hibiscus but that root system is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou should give it a try, Sharon! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe flowering red is nice, but the roots twirls are keeping my eyes occupied.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooms.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Is it some kind of euphorbia? It's really great looking. I don't think I've ever seen one.
ReplyDeleteI bet you could get one to grow Sharon although judging by that root ball this one is pretty mature. Imagine having those gorgeous blooms all year round, that's pretty much like the perfect plant right!
ReplyDeleteRich, rich colour!
ReplyDeleteAdeniums are such fantastic plants! I haven't got any but I have to find one I like to bring home.
