Acceptance

Last Tuesday (Oct. 8th) I posted a photo of a sculpture by Retha Walden Gambaro that I saw at the Heard Museum.  Therese of Tournefeuille A to Z commented that she had a favorite from this artist and given her description, I think this might be the one she was referring to.  The artist's information on this statue reads: "Sculpted at age 80, 'Acceptance' is a self-portrait by the artist.  She had picked up a leaf that had fallen from a tree and sat to contemplate the seasons of nature and the seasons of human life.  'As the leaf makes it's way to the ground, soon I will join it - in the bosom of mother earth.'"  A very moving sentiment.

  1. Yes that is the one, I just love it. And with the greenery and light you brought in there is a feeling of positiveness.

  2. Quite prophetic and contemplative, reflected in the woman's posture. PS. Slowly feeling better but not there yet!
