Here is another Usonian style building constructed as a dental office. This one still remains a dental office to this day. Again, this comes from the 1951-1952 era but, no record of the architect could be found.
This one has been nicely maintained and the blocks in the patio and walkway compliment the building style.
By Usonian you mean the style of Frank Lloyd Wright? I must admit there is some likeness.
ReplyDeleteexcellent shots.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that this was designed by the same architect as the building you posted yesterday. Phoenix was not a very large city in 1950. There were probably not very many architects and I am sure that they all knew each other. If a second architect designed another dental office like this, it would look too much like copying the first and would have damaged the reputation of the copy cat architect.
ReplyDeleteBoth buildings are great but I especially like the one on the previous post. Fantastic! And the red Mustang is a bonus. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe building and the patio complement one another.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very functional looking style Sharon, I think that was a definite style factor in the 1950's.
ReplyDeleteYou find the most interesting buildings. And the fact that you do the research for us, is a bonus. :)
ReplyDeleteNice design!
ReplyDelete"Usonian style" is completely new to me. Thank you for the intro.
ReplyDeleteVery clean lines. No junk gathers need apply
ReplyDeleteThis has been well maintained. I like the design created by the bricks in the center patio design.
ReplyDeletei really like the patio and walkway and how it complements the construction. I would need more windows though
ReplyDeleteWhere do you find all these images and the energy to be so prolific. And then on top of it you provide the background research. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting architecture photos - too bad you weren't able to trace the architect's name. From what I can see both buildings are tiled?
ReplyDelete(and yes, love the red mustang!)
Sharon, thanks for your suggestion to change the framing of my shot today, I've done it and changed it. Let me know if you like it better that way?
