I have to admit, I cheated a bit on this photo. It wasn’t taken in Phoenix. This is one of my favorite photos taken in California near Newport Coast at community called Crystal Cove. Crystal Cove has been placed on the National Heritage Register of Historic Places thus preserving a group of rustic beach cottages that once housed silent film stars, writers, and artists. It is a magical place! Click here to learn more about it.

Love this. Now this is how I imagine a mailbox - that's what the word says to me. Love that rust.
ReplyDeleteAn artsy photo of those very weathered mailboxes! Great for today's theme day!
ReplyDeleteI can't decide whether that box with its flag up is the "shark" or has been nibbled by the the "shark." Either way, this is an excellent contribution to the theme.
ReplyDeleteCheating pays off. Wonderful photo and sounds like an enchanting area.
ReplyDeleteOh that's easy. You don't have to open the front, just drag your mail out through the side! HA

When I first saw our photo, before I read your description, I knew these mailboxes could not be in Phoenix because nothing would rust like that in the desert.
ReplyDeleteCrystal Cove is a charming place. I hope you will be able to visit it again this coming summer.
I really like the touches of pink from the flowers.
ReplyDeletethis is a great image Sharon. great eye
ReplyDeleteOh, my. Sounds like my kind of place. Must. Go. There.
ReplyDeleteIn Phoenix, things won't rust like that mail box, so I figured this was on one of your many trips. You found a great shot there. There is a strange beauty in rust.
ReplyDeleteIt seems both of us have choosen rusty ones today. :-) These are great!
ReplyDeleteVery rustic, the mail could slip out it seems. Perfect photo for Crystal Cove.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful shot! Will have to check out your link.
ReplyDeleteI would really like to visit Crystal Cove...When I saw this photo, I thought right away it was taken near a beach because of all the rust. This would be one of my favorite shots, too.
ReplyDeleteThis is a breezy looking mailbox. I think you better get your mail rather quickly before it floats away on a breeze.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good interpretation of today's theme, Sharon. You are forgiven for the temporary annexation of a Californian beach town.
ReplyDeleteits amazing how rust adds so much detail in a photo, great!
ReplyDeleteThe rustic cottages are matched well with the rusty mailbox, if this photo is typical!
