This gentleman has added some unusual tail-lights to the back of this classic pick-up truck. Given that object in his window, I’d say he likes the look of Byzantine Crosses.
I shot this one straight out of my windshield. Sorry for that little bit of window glare.
What a mix of nationalities and religions we all are these days! But I've never seen crosses deployed quite lack that before.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Byzantine crosses and Chevy pickups make for strange bedfellows!
ReplyDeleteI remember back in the early 70's those crosses were quite popular in jewelry. I had one.
ReplyDeleteSharon, I don't think that this was intended as a Byzantine Cross. I think it is a Iron Cross, symbol of the German military.
ReplyDeleteNot to disparage drivers of old pick up trucks without bumpers and with mismatched paint, but I doubt this guy knows much about Byzantium.
On second thought, is there a firefighters' logo that uses this shape? Maybe he is a firefighter.
Your photo has caused me for the first time to think of the Chevy logo as a cross design, however.
Nice capture Sharon! Interesting looking truck!
ReplyDeleteI agree with David, or maybe he's a member of the Military Order of Malta...
ReplyDeleteThere is an old heavy metal band that used that symbol, I think. I seem to recall seeing that on an old album cover on Brian's bedroom floor once when I had to venture in there.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinkin' "Iron Maiden". Could be wrong though.
ReplyDeletewith the colour of the truck being red, my guess would be that this guy thinks he is manfred von richthofen.
ReplyDeletewell interesting comments today and it does make me think of Chevy's design as spinning off of a religious or military type cross
ReplyDeleteHe's probably a fan of Jesse James (Sandra Bullock's ex) who used that symbol for his "West Coast Choppers". He uses it on everything.
ReplyDeleteByzantine or bizarre...I wonder if he thinks they are Nazi crosses?
ReplyDeleteYou have as many strange folks in Phoenix, I think, as we do in Ocala.
Makes for good photos, though! :-)
Interesting, indeed! Lots to think about. I'm glad you took this shot!
