Great photo. I have a blue heron that frequents an area behind my home that I have been waiting to capture in photo.
I saw a blue heron on Saturday in Indian Bend Wash in Scottsdale, but did not stop to photograph it because it was raining. Blue herons is not what I would expect to see in the desert., but they do thrive in the little lakes and ponds in Phoenix.
It's a beautiful, alert-looking bird. Your composition is really fine!
Graceful is exactly the word that comes to mind.
