Yesterday I drove 70 miles (112 K) east of Phoenix to visit a state park called The Boyce Thompson Arboretum. There are many hiking trails there and an incredible collection of plants and wildlife. I hadn’t been there for many years and it has grown in the years I was away. With the desert in bloom, it was a good opportunity to see more wildflowers and cactus blossoms. The top photo is of the main trail head.

Wonderful nature photos today, Sharon. Wish I was there to walk the path with you...it looks so inviting.
Talk about being in the right place at the right time...this is beautiful. I'd love to join you and Kate on that walk.
It has been too many years since Julie and I have been to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. We have talked about driving out there again, but have not found the time. Your photos today (and I hope and trust that there will be more to come) show why we will definitely have to do so.
Beautiful, Sharon. I have never been there...need to put that one on the list. It looks wonderful.
I have always wondered what exactly that place looked like. Looks like a beautiful place. Definitely another road trip destination!
I love Boyce Thompson this time of year. It's so beautiful. Have a wonderful Sunday.
I haven't been there in ages! Looks like I'll have to visit the place next time we go through on our way to somewhere. (When it's cool)
what a fun trip that would be. i have not been there in years.
I jealous! I've always loved the desert in bloom. That second shot, in particular, is superb!
So very much like this area in winter (Mediterranean climate but semi-desert.) Thanks for showing how beautiful these dry areas can be.
You know I would love to walk there! :-)
Impressive photo of the cactus blossom.
