Grand Opening

Saturday was a day for Grand Openings.  After attending the ribbon cutting for a brand new dog park at the Steel Indian School Park, I headed to south Phoenix to see the grand opening of a brand new Library facility located next door to South Mountain Community College.  There was a large gathering of people waiting for the doors to open to this new facility.

This view shows a little more of the crowd listening to officials give their thanks for the hard work and collaborative support that made the new library possible.  I like the look of this building.  I'll have to visit again and gather some artistic shots of the unique architecture.

With the wonderful design of the main library on Central, it is good to see dramatic and colorful architecture for this new branch library. I wonder if it was the same architect. I hope so. After the excellent design of the main library, they deserve more library design commissions.

I like the design. I wonder if its from the same group that did the main library on Central.

This is a striking new building. Congratulations, Phoenix, for not bowing to mundane municipal architecture.

That's a very unusual style for this part of the country. I like it!

I like the building design very much. After all that talking around about e-readers and paper books dying - how can I join the Library?)

It is wonderful to see such support for a library! Computers were supposed to bring about the death of books, but that doesn't seem to have happened, thank goodness! Nothing like a book in hand!

An impressive building indeed. What is it made of?

It is unique architecture. I hope libraries don't go the way of the dinosaurs.

This kind of reminds me of the library in Prescott Valley. Did you get some pictures of the dog park?
