I haven't seen these shaggy blooms at the Desert Botanical Garden for at least six years. They used to have a big patch of them growing in the wildflower garden but for that past few years they haven't made an appearance.
They are called lemon bee balm. I have no idea how it got it's name. It is certainly not lemon colored.
They are pretty blooms in a shaggy sort of way.

Nice because unusual... ;-)
А как называются эти великолепные цветы!
Lemon bee balm... I learned something new. Apparently they are native to the southern United States and northern Mexico.
They are stunning.
Love the native flowers
I don’t recall seeing them around here either.
I have heard of Bee Balm but have never seen it before.
Do they smell lemony?
I wonder if they have a calming effect on bee stings Sharon, a bit like if you rub on aloe vera? Still pretty in their own way 🌸
Roseann, one web site says they have a nice scent but truthfully, I've never smelled anything coming from them.
Very pretty and new to me.
I don't remember ever seeing these flowers...
They are pretty.
I can't imagine seeing those flowers without a full complement of bees and butterflies.
I'm guessing they smell lemony, maybe when the leaves are crushed?
