I went out to eat twice last week! What a thrill to be able to enjoy dining with friends once again. My friend and I tried a new restaurant that opened this year and we found this gorgeous vintage truck parked in the parking lot.
I was struck by that old, portable air conditioner hanging from the truck's window. It actually brought back some childhood memories. My parents had a car with one of those air conditioners. I have some distinct memories of riding in that car and enjoying the cool air coming from that contraption. Air conditioning for vehicles was a bit of a novelty when I was little. Today it would be a novelty to not have it.
It is a remarkable coloured car. You can't miss it when driving on the road.
ReplyDeleteOh I like that truck. I remember a few hot trip in a car.
ReplyDeleteA/C and mosquito control led to the development of the sun belt. Nice old truck,
ReplyDeleteI love the truck, Sharon! Have never seen or heard of those A/C units.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen an air conditioner like that! I remember in the '70s and '80s a/c was optional in cars, but I'm sure now it's standard.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen or heard of those kind of air conditioners. How unique they must have been. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a beauty! I wonder if those old air conditioners were actually evaporative coolers? Do you know if they had a place to add water? Nevermind, I did a quick Google search and that is how these old car coolers worked. They cooled very efficiently as long as the humidity was low (exactly like swamp coolers on a house).
ReplyDeleteQuite a truck.
ReplyDeleteImpressive truck.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen an air conditioner like that for a vehicle!
