We have finally reached the stage where our trees that shed their leaves start doing exactly that.
I don't see many trees that get a red tint here in the desert so I had to stop and take a photo of these three that appear to be turning a nice ruby shade.
I also hardly ever see anyone raking leaves here. Instead they use those noisy leaf-blowers that are so annoying.
When I was growing up in Illinois, raking the leaves was a fall chore that I enjoyed. Many of our neighbors would rake them into piles by the street and then burn them. My dad hated the smell of the smoke so we didn't participate in the burning part.
We have passed this way already and the trees are all bald now here. The municipality has removed the fallen leaves from the streets, we are ready for winterstuff, snow?

ReplyDeleteAutumn in December... lucky you.
ReplyDeleteI hate those blowers too!
ReplyDeleteOur neighbors use leaf-blowers and it drives me crazy. What on earth is wrong with a simple rake?! Nice autumn color in your photos!
ReplyDeleteOh, geez! Don't get me started on those infernal leaf blowers!! :-0
ReplyDeleteOur leaves are beneath the snow now.
ReplyDeleteThe blowers are noise pollution and so loud, I hate them.
ReplyDeleteThey look so pretty this colour Sharon, I really don't mind taking up the leaves when my trees lose them in autumn 🍁
ReplyDeleteIt is so late to lose leaves! Burning leaves was prohibited in New England when I was a teenager, more than 50 years ago.
