I mentioned yesterday that I visited the home of a new member of my theatre group and that she is quite the collector of Native American art. This has got to be one of the biggest collections of Kachinas that I've ever seen. It rivals the famous Goldwater collection that is now on view at the Heard Museum.
This one was one of my favorites. It's just so unusual. I had never seen one like it.
And, I always love the antics of the clown Kachinas and these two were wonderful examples of the humor they represent.
This was another unusual one. I don't recall his name but, he looks like the keeper of a game of some sort.
This lady has one very amazing collection of these wonderful wood carvings.
Lots of figurines and lots to discover. Everything is so colorful!

I didn't know this, had to look it up what it is for. Had heard from the word but not the meaning of it. She has collected a huge amount of them!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! What a collection!
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable! I thought that I had seen a lot at the Heard Museum! Nothing compared to this.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine if these Kachinas could speak.
That is an incroyable collection Sharon. The Kachina figurines are quite fascinating aren't they.. do you have any yourself?
ReplyDeleteAmazing is the right word for this collection, Sharon! I like those 2 clown ones.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw that first picture I thought it must be at a museum. WOW!
ReplyDeleteI love them!
ReplyDeleteThis is a private collection! Wow! Love the clowns too!
ReplyDeleteUnusual, and eye catching!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is an amazing collection.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, I've never seen anything like this. I'm sure there are several that I would like but I don'g really understand why someone put so much time and money into such a collection. There's nothing wrong with it, but why?
ReplyDeleteWhat a marvelous collection she has! I could spend hours looking at these.
ReplyDeleteI really like them, you could take ages studying the intricacies of each one.
ReplyDeleteWe must also have a sizable portion of the money in the world, too. Has she made plans for them after she passes on?
ReplyDeleteThis woman's collection is extensive and awesome. What a wonderful new acquaintance.
ReplyDeleteQuite a collection! I'm glad they're in glass cases -- otherwise I imagine it would be a nightmare to keep dust off them.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is impressive as one individual's collection. I have a collection (not these) and I have to figure out how to disperse it.
