Much cooler weather has rolled into the Valley of the Sun this last week so it's coat weather again for most of us desert dwellers. I do see the occasional shorts and flip-flops but, for most of us a coat is necessary.
I even had tickets for an outdoor concert last night and I ended up not going. It's just too cold to sit outside in the evening. I was out during the day to run some errands and when the sun peeked through it was warm but the minute it hid I was cold again.
The shot with the palms and the skyscraper is my preferred.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Sharon !
Yes those palmtrees are so nice with the clouds. Good luck with the cold!
ReplyDeleteAt least those overcast cold days are few! Great shot of downtown with huge clouds rolling over!
ReplyDeleteSpring is not around the corner yet.

The sun is an illusive devil sometimes.
ReplyDeleteNever got out of the 30's here and snowed. We need the moisture though but didn't get much.
ReplyDeleteLovely skies!
ReplyDeleteHere we had some freezing rain yesterday.
Are your photos looking up and down Central Avenue? I worked just south of Camelback on Central Avenue. Fortunately, the office was close to a nice little bar. I also worked part-time for Ken's Store for Men (I think that's what it was called. It was on Camelback just east of Central. I remember meeting some famous baseball player once in that shop. Can't recall his name either.
ReplyDeleteNice to have cooler weather. It's still hot here and I dislike it. Summers are long enough; we don't need summer in February! :)
Oh, another funny thing. Some moron tried to fry an egg on the sidewalk just outside our office window. As I recall, it didn't work.
Nice fluffy clouds! I'm sure it wouldn't feel too cold for us northerners. You have lost your northern temperature gauge, Sharon! ;-))
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon: I worked for Retail Credit Company as an investigator. I had started with Retail Credit when in high school in Minneapolis. Lois worked there after I did and her mother worked there for many years (her mother introduced us!). I'm sure the building is not longer there. Retail Credit Company was the main company, but another, related company was Retailers Commercial Agency. Eventually, they merged to form Equifax. I was on their track to management but didn't like the way they operated. However, when we moved to Phoenix I needed a job and they needed me, so I worked there while I finished my undergraduate work at ASU. After that, they moved me to the Mesa sub-office where I did investigative work. I did one year of graduate work and then moved to Chicago.
ReplyDeleteThe store I worked for was very famous. It was Ken Flowers Store for Men. I believe the baseball player who I met there was Dizzy Dean. I didn't stay there for long as one regular job and a full load at school took up most of my timel. As I recall, Ken Flowers' store was just to the east of Central Avenue on Camelback.
Nice street scenes. I like the palm trees and the clouds, they work well together. I also like the reflection of the sky in the tall building. It's hard to believe that people actually can get cold there. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to see a different sky than usual in Phoenix.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame you missed the concert -- but enjoy the cold while it lasts! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll bet your interpretation of cold and the interpretation of most of your readers is very different. After seven winters in southwest Florida, I consider the 50s cold, while people up north think of 50s as a heat wave.
